We found this cat who just randomly showed up in our neighborhood. I've NEVER seen him before. He's extremely friendly, but he seems really lost.. We've saved him from being run down in the road twice tonight, he's really dirty and he seemed really confused, like he just doesn't seem to have any direction. He's extremely sweet though and very well behaved, which leaves me to think he was someone's cat, but somehow got out and has been lost for a few days.
After saving him from being hit by a car down the street from our apartment earlier tonight, we finally made the decision to bring him inside until we can find his owner. If we can't find his owner, than I would like to find him a nice home with someone that can take proper care of him. I would LOVE to keep him myself, but we are reeeeeally sticking our necks out for this cat as it is. Cats aren't allowed in our apartment, and if our landlord finds out, we are in HUGE trouble. I think we can pull it off for a few days until we think of something. We may even have to bring him to the animal shelter, but I really don't want to do that. We are planning on posting a few fliers around our neighborhood, and I'm going to post one up at my work and let my co-workers know about it. Maybe they can help somehow. This is a really sweet cat and he deserves a home with someone that's going to love him if he isn't reunited with his previous owner.
If anyone here can help in any way, please do so ((Yeah, I know it's a long shot, but I figured I'd give it a shot anyways)).
It's been a while since I've given you guys pictures of Skipper. Well, we took him outside to a local park and decided to take the camera along! Hope you all enjoy! ^_________^
Today, July 12th, marks Skipper's second birthday!! I took him out to Petco today and bought him some treats and a really cute sweater. Was some good times. But before we left for petco, I took Skipper by a friend's house where he got meet some unusual "ferrets".
Just some cute pictures taken of Skipper at my boyfriend's work. He works at a photography studio and is often running it by himself. So one evening I snuck Skipper in for some quick pictures. He didn't co-operate very well though, so these were as best as we could get them XD Aside from that, nothing really new in the realm of the squizzle ^-^
It's been quite some time and I'm sorry about that. Life has had me mad busy and what not. I'm in between jobs at the moment so I've been out doing a TON of job hunting, etc.
Skipper met his very first ferret last night! Probally one of the most random and hilarious things that's happened to me in God knows how long. With the weather being so nice out, I've been taking Skipper out a lot lately. Last night Willow and I went out for Ice Cream and decided to have Skipper tag along. It was about 11PM when we started walking home afterwards, Skipper feeling mildly tired, but trotted right along with us. Well. We reach the end of our street and start walking up towards our house when we notice this guy and this girl roughly our age walking something small and dark grey. I looked at Willow and said "...Do you see what they're walking?" It was a ferret!! XD I've NEVER met anyone in Keene who owns another ferret, let alone WALKS them like we do Skipper! They noticed us too and were equally as shocked. Apparently they had just moved to the area and own 3 ferrets, counting the one they were walking.
Well, as excited as I was, before I approached them I asked if their ferret was UTD on shots and ADV negative, etc. If he wasn't, there was no way I was going to get near them with Skipper. They were very happy I knew about ADV and questioned them about it and they said that they wouldn't take him outside unless he was UTD on everything and ADV negative. In which I reassured them it was the same for us. The ferret's name was Howard and he was a FAT little guy almost exactly Skipper's age. So, we approached and each of us holding our own, we had them sniff each other. Skipper almost immediately started trying to climb onto Howard and began nipping him playfully XD I thought I was going to die laughing. Howard wasn't too impressed though, so I pulled poor Skipper away who was scrambling over towards him, reaching out with his paws to try and grab him. LMAO! God, it was so funny!
So we sat there and talked for a little while about ferrets, and come to find out, they live right around the corner from us! I could KICK myself for not having the camera with us, so unfortunatly no pictures were taken. It's good to know though that there are other awesome RESPONSIBLE ferret owners in town.
A few days ago, we went on a small hike to this old spot in town that people don't know about, There are these old blast cliffs where a highway use to run through. About 5 years ago, the ripped the highway up and filled it with grass. So what's left now is a large, grassy, canyon hidden from the public. We took Skipper with us that day to do some exploring and being as we were pretty much closed in, I decided to let him off his leash and see how he did. It was the first time I've ever allowed him off his leash outside, so it was really an experiment. He did amazingly well, and came to me when I called him. We took a video for you guys. Sorry it's sucj sjitty quality.
So Skipper was particularly frisky tonight...more so than your average ferret. No idea what it was he got into, but he was absolutly hilarious all evening. So I whipped out the camera.
Wooo! The weather was AWSOME today for the first time in ever. So we took Skipper out for a walk in a near by cemetary. And since it's been a while since I've posted any pictures for you guys, I brought my camera! Yay!
Sorry I haven't posted anything new for a while! I've been sick latley and have been avoiding Skipper as best I can so he doesn't catch my cold. Poor little guy. But I managed to bring him out into the snow last night!
We had our first snowfall of 2006 yesterday evening. Skipper was very young last winter and didn't really get a chance to explore snow properly, so this was a big thing for him!
A couple of videos that were taken of Skipper during the past few weeks. This first one here is a video taken at a local playground showing just how awsome Skipper is with large groups of children.
This second one here is a video my boyfriend made of Skipper freaking out to some very fitting music XD
Not sure if I mentioned it before, but I've owned Skipper for a year now. This is the longest I've ever owned a ferret, so there are still a few things I'm learning. Like the changing of his coats during the seasons. Skipper is virtually all white now, having shed his summer coat. I nearly had a heart attack not to long ago when I came home to find what looked like the fur on Skipper's tail missing, but found that it was just new fur. He's also become rediculously fluffy and fat. I've been trying to take him out for nightly walks now ((except for tonight being as it's raining)). I read somewhere that it's good for the ferret to take them out for walks, or atleast outside as often as possible. So far, he seems to love it. He ran the entire two blocks from my apartment, to the store, and back WITHOUT stopping! I think I was more winded then he was! LOL!
X-posted to a few ferret communities and my own journal.
Skipper, my boyfriend, and I all went out for a long walk along this trail thing in the woods today. It was such a beautiful fall day up here in NH and being as we have an awsome new digital camera, we felt it would be the perfect day to take come shots of the weasle.
